To retrospectively analyze 16 cases who had modified transabdominal cervicoisthmic cerclage.
Cases who had abdominal cervicoisthmic cerclage in the last 11 years were retrospectively analyzed. In this context, records of sociodemographic characteristics, operation and pregnancy results of the cases who had undergone cervicoisthmic cerclage were reviewed.
The rate of obtaining pregnancy in and after week 34 was found 78.5%. None of the cases had any intraoperative complication. Two cases developed chorioamnionitis on day 3 of week 17 and day 4 of week 20, while one case had an unstoppable preterm labor in week 29. Cerclage stitch was removed and abortus was performed in cases who developed chorioamnionitis. Pregnancy was ended with a cesarean section in all other cases.
Modified transabdominal cervicoisthmic cerclage is a substantial alternative which is reliable and has high success rates in cases who are not suitable for transvaginal cerclage.
